At
NCI, we are committed to providing total media accessibility. Whether
you are deaf; hard-of-hearing; blind or have low vision; learning English
as a second language; or looking to improve your reading skills or those
of your family, NCI’s services are here to help.
NCI was founded in 1979. We pioneered the captioning process then, and
continue to be at the forefront of media accessibility services today.
NCI captions many of your favorite news, sports and entertainment television
shows. We caption pre-recorded television shows and a wide range of live,
on-the-spot news and sporting events. NCI also captions and subtitles
many movies and shows released on home video and DVD. The actual captioning
process is performed by a team of highly trained caption editors and technical
engineers working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to bring you the highest-quality
captions in the industry.
While captioning remains our hallmark, NCI recently opened a new department
devoted to described media. This process helps people who are blind or
have low vision enjoy television by describing for them in detail the
unspoken action on screen.
In all, NCI’s services touch the lives of some 100 million Americans
across the country. Explore this site, and let us help you, too!
