| FAQ : Can I view closed captions on my computer when I play a DVD movie? |
|||
![]() |
No. When a person watches a DVD or videotape on their television set, the captions are displayed because they pass through a decoding chip that is built into the television or the separate decoder box attached to a TV. Computers do not have built-in decoding chips; therefore, they do not have the capability to pass on the captions normally seen on a television. Keep
in mind that subtitled DVDs can be viewed on your computer by activating
the subtitle option in the on-screen menu. The technology that delivers
subtitles is different from the technology that delivers closed captions,
which accounts for the difference in how they appear. |
